About

Luisa is an Integrative Psychotherapist. She is a full clinical Member of the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP), and a Member of the Register accredited by the Professional Standards Authority, fully qualified since 2012. She is also a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the largest professional body for counsellors and psychotherapists in the UK. Luisa adheres to both the UKCP ethical code of practice and BACP Ethical Framework; and has professional indemnity insurance. She also works in compliance with the GDPR.

Luisa has been practicing therapy for over fifteen years. Luisa has NHS experience, and practiced long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy, working with patients for approximately two years, at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust at Guy's Hospital. She also practiced Cognitive Analytic Therapy there, a structured therapy of approximately 24 sessions that aims to come to a shared understanding of how patterns from the past may be causing distress in the present.

She has considerable experience working with young adults, including in a university setting. She practiced at The Inner Circle Therapy Centre in Regent's Park from 2008, where she worked on behalf of the Centre with students at the international schools at Regent's College (undergraduate and postgraduate) and members of staff. She also took private referrals and ran a private practice from the Centre. She also worked at the subsequent Regent's University Counselling Service in 2016, providing therapy to students.

More recently Luisa worked as a clinician at Rafan House Harley Street, from 2018-2020, alongside her private practice. She specialised in working with corporate individuals, such as senior lawyers, bankers and CEOs, including clients overseas.

Prior to training as a psychotherapist, Luisa worked largely in European and international affairs. She worked closely with business and governments in the UK, Europe, the US, Asia and Asia-Pacific, and has lived and worked outside the UK. Luisa therefore is able to work with a wide range of people with diverse backgrounds. Luisa has worked at the mental health charity SANE, and has worked with people with severe and long-standing mental health problems. She has experience of working with people of all ages, and a wide range of issues such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Social isolation
  • Identity issues
  • Low self-esteem
  • Relationship and sexual difficulties
  • Transition issues, including living and working abroad
  • Work-related issues
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Childhood neglect and abuse
  • Trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress
  • Self-destructive behaviours, e.g. self-harm, and suicidal thoughts

Luisa has an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy, a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling, and a Foundation Certificate in Psychotherapy and Counselling, all from Regent's College London. She also holds a Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) Skills Certificate. In addition to around six years formal training in psychotherapy, Luisa has a BA (Hons.) and MA from Cambridge University, and has studied at the London School of Economics.
